Character and emphasis The Bibliotheek Letteren includes the collections of the various departments of the Faculty of Arts. The arthistorical part is a general collection on all aspects of the history of Western art since the Middle Ages, with some emphasis on Byzantine and Early Christian art. The Department of the History of Art, located in the same building, maintains its own Centre of Art-Historical Documentation, which includes an extensive slide library, a collection of reproductions, a selection of reference books, microforms and some documentation archives (see next entry).
Special collections The Van der Meer Collection: these books on Christian Art are integrated in the main collection.
