Character and emphasis The Stedelijk Museum is the most important museum of modern and contemporary art in the Netherlands, and has an international reputation. It collects all types of 20th century art, including photography, applied arts and industrial design. The library was installed in the museum in 1958. It reflects the museum's collection: publications on modern and contemporary art and design from 1880 to the present. It has developed into one of the leading institutions of documentation on modern and contemporary art in Europe.
