Character and emphasis The Boekman Stichting, founded in 1963, is a resource centre financed by the Dutch Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It provides information on the arts and on culture in general, in particular on (inter)national art policy and art management. This includes the fine and applied arts, music and the performing arts, literature and popular culture, as well as cultural institutions and services (libraries, museums), the care of the cultural heritage, and the media. Its library consists of a research collection concerning government policy towards culture and the arts at all levels of administration, legal aspects including copyright, government and private funding, art management, marketing and sponsorship in the arts, as well as material on the socio-economic position of the artist, art education and the amateur arts. It contains books, policy statements, reports, doctoral and master's theses, newspapers and press-cuttings dealing with culture and the arts within a social and administrative context.
Most material is in Dutch and deals with Dutch issues.
